The Lift chair and Vertigo table, designed by Daniele Lago and debuted at the Salone del Mobile 2017, are winners in the furniture category of the prestigious Good Design Awards 2017, an international design competition that awards prizes to the year’s most innovative products.
Founded in 1950, the Good Design Awards are organised by the Chicago Athenaeum, an architecture and design museum, with the European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies.
Lift is a chair with a classical shape made contemporary by the zero-millimetre point of contact between the seat and the circle-shaped chair back. Comfort is ensured by the padded seat and customised by an innovative internal mechanism for regulating the height of the chair back with a simple gesture. 7 intermediate positions guaranteeing maximum comfort.
Vertigo is instead a table with clean, essential lines that creates an evocative perception of suspension, playing with the invisibility of a key supporting structure: one of the table legs. The table top, made up of oak planks in different widths, is supported by one wooden leg and one invisible sheet of extra-clear tempered glass.
With this year’s winners, the number of LAGO products that have received the Good Design Award has risen to eight, the other winners being the 36e8 kitchen (2008), the LagoLinea shelf and Huggy armchair (2009), the Air sofa (2010), the Et Voilà wardrobe (2011) and the Air kitchen (2016).
